Confused as to what this site is all about? Try starting here for an explanation.
Okay, so uptake on the badges hasn't been as fantastic as I might have liked, however that's not going to stop me from giving away more stuff! And what could be better than this - "Is that...Is that a Chair Club book?!" As good as, my friend, as good as. It definitely mentions the word 'chair' a few times and 'club' at least once. And 'Captain Chair'? Well, that would be telling... In my effort to get people to read it and give me feedback I'm giving away a bunch of these books. Want to be one of the bunch? Then click here. (Which leads to a page that essentially tells you to email your postal address to d.johnson[at]chairclub.co.uk)
I've found a large pile of 'I'm with Captain Chair' badges leftover from the Banned Election (yes, I'm aware of the horrible, horrible misspelling of 'whose'. It makes me cry too. I promise to get it corrected ASAP). Email your address to d.johnson[at]chairclub.co.uk and I'll stick a selection in an envelope for you. Will you get one of the rare 'zombie' variants? Ooo, the excitement!
To be fair these entries were a bit rushed and at some point I'll go back and expand them a little. But for the meantime... China, Carrbridge, Falkirk, The Forth Bridge, Stourhead, Stirling, Inverness, Dornoch.
More updates?! Map entries & updates for SF, Bath & Netherlands. Had to do a little jigging around with folders whilst uploading these, so expect a few broken links - email any corrections to d.johnson[at]chairclub.co.uk
2010 is the year we Get The Map Finished. To kick it off here are new entries on Germany, Croatia, Greece and Barrth, plus an update on Bristol.
A report on the Derren Brown show this evening on C4:
Some additions to The Map: Flint, Queensferry, Birkenhead Yes, I know the blobs aren't in quite the right place but it's a small map and things are getting a bit crowded in places. Not that it really matters at the moment because I can't get the bloody things to upload. edit: success! coming soon: Jordan. Ooooooooo.
Slightly longer between updates than planned, but it's a special one: the first celebrity contribution to the Chair Club Map by Robert Llewellyn! If you're a celebrity, or even just a normal person blessed with a camera, don't forget to send your bridge and chair photos to d.johnson[at]chairclub.co.uk and we'll add them to The Map.
You can now follow Captain Chair on Twitter! Follow him as he's out patrolling the city and fighting crime, or at home doing slightly less exciting things like watching TV and eating meals.
For no other reason than I thought I'd better have some kind of update today, I started typing chair-related words into google in the hope of uncovering something interesting. Sadly, the only thing I could come up with was this: The search was 'wii chair', the result: the Ergo Chair, the ergonomic chair for your home and office. You can read the website yourself for the details, but it's bascially a large ball in a frame. What I find most interesting is 'The ErgoChair promotes "active sitting" because you cannot relax while seated on the ball', which I find to be the complete opposite of what I want when I sit in a chair. Still, it's supposed to help back pain, so I suppose it can't be all bad. How did this come up as a 'wii chair' result? Well, apparently standing up to play wii games can get 'quite tedious for those un-acclimated to exercise'...because so many wii games require you to stand up. Out of my (extensive) collection, the only one I can say is slightly easier to play standing up is Wii Sports, the rest I can very happily sit for. Makes me wonder if you could use the chair in conjunction with a balance board... Anyway, if you have a spare $169 dollars and back pain, or are just plain curious, please buy one, test it out and send me a review. I'd be very interested to find out what people think of it. Chair Club does not recommend or endorse the Ergo Chair in any way.
Updates 2 days in a row? What is the world coming to? Report from the BBC about a new bridge to link Sicily to mainland Italy. See here.
According to my sources (ie this very website), I haven't updated this site in about 18 months! Disaster! Partly this has been due to me trying to think of some amazing new design for the site (which I still haven't), and partly because I have been working on other things. Luckily for you, Chair Clubbers, the project I've been spending much of my time on IS chair related! Now I don't want to say too much (because I haven't quite finished yet) but I can guarantee you will all be amazed! Amazed, I say! Keep checking back - updates will be (more) frequent!
Help keep Chair Club alive and make a donation! Since no one appears to be donating out of the pure
goodness of their heart, I'll search around and send some chairy goodies
to everyone who does so.
