Pollaxe Day |

Saturday 4th DecemberMay all your pollaxe attacks find their mark and slice your enemies to bloodied ribbons!
Pollaxe Day takes place annually on the 4th December. It is the celebration of an ancient pagan festival when people would take to the streets with their poleaxes and hack their neighbours in to a bloody pulp. These days the hacking is mostly ceremonial, however some groups do still carry out the full enemy-slashing practice. Chair Club's links to Pollaxe Day come about from the early days of the club when Proto-human was killed with a giant pollaxe by the Aztecs as a 'thank you' for bringing chairs and bridges to their culture. A number of events are currently being planned to celebrate Pollaxe Day 2005, which will probably involve pollaxes and drinking...but not at the same time because, as we have found out in the past, this tends to result in members spending the following few days in hospital/a morgue. (If you're interested, the above pollaxe is available from Medieval Weapon Art for only $39.99 and usually ships in 1-2 business days. Never ordered anything from them myself, and this is more to give credit to the people I stole the picture from than anything else, but I'm sure someone out there will be interested.) |
