Sunday 4/03/07For some reason, despite the low turnout, the count took them 2 days this year. Very odd. Not being a candidate, I of course wasn't invited to attend Result's Night. Their loss. Friday 2/03/07Venturing outside at lunch time today, I found that most campaigners had completely give up. Rumours were that the number of voters was disappointingly low. The fault of Elections Committee who'd failed to advertise the things properly and engage the student body? The fault of the candidates for running disappointing campaigns? I'm afraid I have to place some blame on both parties (something that will result in an article on what I think could be improved with the whole event, and hey, probably the Guild too while I'm at it). The highlight of the day was an attempt by elections committee member Hannah Poulton for attempting to throw me out of the Guild for campaigning. You can't have it both ways, Hannah - you can't disqualify me and then ban me from the building. One or the other, dear. The campaign badges went down exceptionally well, and I quickly ran out. I take this as a sign that the majority of the students at the university are ready to take a stand against Evil. Thursday 1/03/07Rumours of voter and campaigner intimidation drew Captain Chair out today to check on the elections taking place. Whilst there seemed to be a little hostility outside between teams, there didn't appear to be much evil happening other than a mild dislike. In a more general comment, I was a little disappointed about the lack of presence the campaigners had on campus. The sole construction was a pink car, and since someone's built a car pretty much every year since time began, it wasn't very impressive. Wednesday 28/02/07On a bit of a roll here, as the Director's Cut of Captain Chair: The Movie arrives online...and on YouTube too! Go view it here! And while you're at it, go take a peep at the newest, cutest Bridge Boy. Tuesday 27/02/07It's complete! And not too bad considering the amount of effort put in. View it here. ------- We have a rough cut of the video! Rough being a very important word to remember when its viewed - I've just taken the raw footage, stuck it together and slapped the sound on top. Yes, there are sections that play backwards and, yes, big chunks need to be edited out (hell, lots needs to be reshot), but it kind of works. Kind of... Monday 26/02/07'Hmm, why is no one visiting my elections site?' I wondered. 'Oh yeah, I haven't got those pages tracked,' I remembered today. Silly me! In other news, work on the video continues slowly. Some progress has benn made, but not very much. However, there is some exciting news regarding a certain sidekick. Good bye Chris, hello Nathan... Photos to follow tomorrow! (ie when he's woken up and I can take some.) Saturday 24/02/07Lots of filming took place today. Thanks to all who turned up, and to the girl on reception who lent us her chair. Unfortunately the genius idea to film everything backwards is turning out to be not such a brilliant plan as I struggle with finding software that'll flip it to play the other way. As much as I hope to get it sorted by the end of the week, I somehow doubt it's going to happen by then. Since I'm not a presidential candidate, and none of the elections rules apply to me, there are now lots of posters up in the Guild. Huzzah! Friday 23/02/07A mention in today's Redbrick, although a very sad one...
Thursday 22/02/07No filming today due to rain. I did however make it into town and bought some jaffa cakes. They were very nice. Wednesday 21/02/07Today was the day of the 1 minute hustings out side Avanti. The major problem was that a lot of the candidates were unable to project their voice sufficiently for the crowd to be able to hear them, which was a shame. On evil-fighting news, facebook membership remains static at 26 - I'm sure there are more 'good' people out there! I have decided that I'm going to keep a closer eye on the campaigning activities of the election teams, since at the moment there is a fair amount of ill feeling about. Any evil-doing and Captain Chair will be there to stop it! Monday 19/02/07Slanted hustings took place this evening. Slanted, you ask? Yes, this means that as well as giving a 2 minute speech, each candidate was asked questions specifically for them. After this one event, I have pretty much decided who I will be recommending people to vote for in the elections. There are some seriously annoying, stupid idiots standing in this election, and I really hope that for a couple of positions it'll be a first ever win for RON. I was also annoying at several people who decided they wouldn't properly answer the question they were asked. I don't care if you like the question or not, just answer it. My pollaxe, the pollaxe I got for my 8th birthday when I went to Camelot received a smashing blow during the hustings. The pole is now a lot shorter than it once was.
Sunday 18/02/07After a few troubles (ie me deleting the email about switching IP before reading it), the campaign mini-site is go! Now that it actually works, expect updates to flood the place! Also, this bottle of Fanta I just bought from Spar is flat. I am most upset. Saturday 17/02/07The 'I'm with Captain Chair!' Facebook group has now reached 21 members. Not a bad start, but I'm sure there must be many more ppeople out there ready to do battle with evil. This morning I headed to the Guild with Baby Bridge Boy (thanks to everyone who helped babysit) to see how the banner painting was going. A few people have taken badges to show their support with our campaign. Friday 16/02/07Campaigining for all the othe presidential candidates began today. As usual, the rain wass there to help them along. It's quite sad that I'm not out there getting wet, but even more sad that I can't force Kamilla to make 246 badges. I was quite impressed with Redbrick today - not only did they print the
bridge reference in my interview, but they also managed to spell my name
right. Well done Redbrick! Thursday 15/02/07News has come in that I am not a proper student, and therefore forbidden from running in the elections. This has caused much upset and disappointment from pretty much everyone. It is a little strange that two years ago I was the most hated person in the world for standing in the elections, and now I'm almost the star. Very strange. |
