Manifesto Hustings Press Coverage Campaigning Papery Bits Ironbridge Giant Bridge Results Night I could mess around with an introduction, but that would be mean. Instead I shall get straight to the point. The target was to beat 106. I got: 184 votes ...going up to 192 once RON was eliminated and his votes redistributed. This lead to the creation of the 184: So, getting near double the votes from last year and a huge % increase of the votes as the total number of voters was down a big chunk from last year. There was a cheer from the room as the total was read out. I doubt any of the other candidates actually cared about how many votes they got (as long as they got the most). I hear from the counters that one table got to 105 votes, and was really worried...then remembered about the vote count from the other tables. Idiots. I was also the only person who got an 'awww' from the room when I was eliminated. The full results are:
This very website won an award for being, well, the best website. Since I've been working on it for nearly a year longer than everyone else did, this was not really a surprise ('You ought to make it into a proper site' 'Yes, yes I should'). There were a number of other awards, eg best costume, that I really should have got too, but elections committee thought it was a bit unfair if I walked away with the lot. Meanies. And I got nabbed by Burn FM for an interview. I must be getting soft. Afterwards everyone got to go to FAB (a Guild event, which is pretty much the same as every other Guild club night, except this one's held on a Saturday). During which I talked to a load of (drunk) people who said 'I was going to vote for you, but I couldn't be bothered walking into uni'. Thanks guys. I notice how you did manage to walk in when you wanted to drink vast amounts of alcohol. So another election was over, and yet another victory for me. It was very strange to have so many people come up, shake my hand and congratulate me, despite the fact that I'd technically lost. Oh, and once again I have achieved everything on my manifesto. 184 votes and a pilot episode of Captain Chair are complete. And they actually refunded my expenses this year, which was good (although somehow Emma managed to get her name on the cheque, so it's in her bank account now). Photos to come, once they're developed. Manifesto Hustings Press Coverage Campaigning Papery Bits Ironbridge Giant Bridge Results Night |
