Once again Damian set out to deliver something special with his elections fliers....
Comics
There was only supposed to be one comic, however I had so much fun drawing it that I decided to do a second one. For some reason I ended up handing out every single copy of issue 2, but only about half of issue 1, and as a result I have a big pile sat on my desk.
And yes, I got the date wrong on the first issue, thank you for complaining.
Fliers
Two reasons for using these: firstly, I had them all pre-prepared from last year and never handed them out, and secondly, Andy thought the True or False one was hilarious.
If one more person asks me about hamsters, I will scream...
The Activity Pack
Each comic took up a sheet of A4, so the number of fliers I could get photocopied with my budget wasn't too high. As a result I was cautious at first as to who got a flier, e.g. handing one out per group of people. There was a great deal of success in handing them out, not as election fliers, but as lecture entertainment (which was the plan).
Upon reaching the last day of campaigning, however, the student population was sick of having bits of paper shoved at them, and not even the 'keep you awake in lectures' line was working any more. I have several hundred fliers left and no one to give them too. New markets were targeted: the collectors after a complete set, and those people wanting an activity pack (consisting of 4 x lecture games & 2 x comics).
Now there was buzzing interest and I was getting rid of bucketloads of the things. It was a shame really that I ran out of issue 2 of the comic as part-complete sets didn't go down so well.
Posters
Last year I printed more posters than I knew what to do with, this year I took the opposite approach and decided where I wanted the posters, and then printed only that many. This turned out to be 3 (plus one in staff house which I got permission to stick up, but was then gone the next day. Presumably the person who'd given me permission didn't actually have the authority to do so).
