1920s 40s 60s 70s 80s 90s CHAOS 2000s Today Pollaxes CHAOSThe Costly Hateful Age of Sabbath was the result of the death of Bridge Boy in 1943. Without Bridge Boy, Captain Chair had not been able to help end WWII and now Dr. Sabbath ruled the Earth. This was the only time in the history of the comics that Captain Chair was part of a team and thus was a huge development of the character. He and 5 others had formed a resistance movement to overthrow Sabbath's reign, and interestingly despite the germans winning the war, being a member of this team had led to a much more caring character. It some very skillful writing considering CHAOS only lasted 6 issues, the reader was deeply moved as one by one Captain's friends were killed off by Sabbath's army and Captain became rapidly more aggressive and twisted.
How was the world of CHAOS ended and the real world restored? Well, this is one story that deserves to be read in its original form and there is no way I could do it justice in this short paragraph. Original prints of the comic now reach serveral hundred pounds in price, however numerous reprints have been produced since then and are much more affordable. The arc came in handy for explaining some of the more anomalous parts of Captain Chair's history (such as the fact that almost everything had been caused by Sabbath despite the chacter only being created in the 80s) as certain elements of the alternate universe (and one or two characters) transferred from the CHAOS universe to the 'normal' one. |
